I am scared I will have a premature birth
The doctor (and my family) are concerned that I may have a preterm birth.
Is there anyway to know for sure if I won't carry my baby to term?
No, but there are some things to look for.
Some of the possible causes for premature birth are:
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Previous premature delivery
- Infections
- Twins
- Placenta problems
- Age
- Too large uterus
- Had a child in the last 18 months
- Being underweight
- Too much amniotic fluid
- Drugs, alcohol, cigarette use
- Problems with your uterus or cervix
- Had no prenatal care
Be sure to ask your doctor, but many possible problems can be forseen or discovered through an ultrasound screening. (ultrasound screening is completely safe for you and your baby)
